Best Train App On The Google Play Store

Choosing the best train app at the Google Play Store becomes difficult with the myriad list of train apps available for your android. We took up the challenge and decided to evaluate three of the most popular train apps available. The evaluation was done on the basis of  how well these apps help for travel by train. The key factors used for evaluation included: planning the trip, PNR updates, overall ease of use and speed.

Cleartrip App

You can directly book tickets for train with the Cleartrip app making Clear Trip one of the best train apps on the Play Store. You can easily check availability and book tickets as it has an integration with IRCTC. It has built-in  features of a PNR status app. The Cleartrip app save the traveller’s details so you need not enter them each time you make a booking. It also accesses your bookings on your mobile device even when you are offline. Paying for the tickets is an easy task too as the fares are displayed in all major currencies, including USD, GBP, SGD, CAD, AUD, etc. You can pay easily using your credit card or debit card or can even use the netbanking option. Our rating: 8 on 10.

Rail Yatri–Indian Railways

You can locate the train via GPS using the Rail Yatri app.  Notifications about delays and cancellations, reviews and much more are a part of this app’s features. The 5.1 MB size of the app makes it quick and responsive. However, this app lacks a user-friendly interface, and can be quite difficult to use, especially on devices with a small screen. What stands out in this travel app, however, is its ability to find out trains from the stations near you. Our rating: 7 out of 10.

ixigo Trains

Winner of the 2013 Mobbys for the best app across all categories, the ixigo trains app is definitely one of the best train apps on the Google Play Store. What’s more, the ixigo trains app not only comes with the best Indian Railways/ IRCTC train information, but now comes loaded with information on hotels as well. The ixigo train and hotels app provides comprehensive information on hotels–starting from budget hotels to top-class ones. The best part is there are no pesky ads. Backed by intelligent technology, the app is very light on the phone’s memory and is available for free! You can also receive quick PNR updates by simply entering your PNR number with the ixigo trains app. If you have marked a train as your favourite, you can check the train route, stopover stations and their stoppage times on your smartphone even when you are offline. The app very easily redirects you to the IRCTC website to make quick and convenient train bookings.
We give it a 9 on 10, -1 for the missing booking.

Download these apps right away on your smartphone and rest assured that travelling by train is never going to be difficult again thanks to the best train apps on android.
