Why You Should Consider the State Public Service Commission Recruitment When You’re Job Hunting

Every state has its own Public Service Commission. The PSCs were forged by the constitution of India. They operate to recruit applicants to the office of civil servants in their respective states. This includes posts of high reputation and some of the most sought after ones by candidates. The Kerala PSC  like every other state’s PSC invites applications to a wide range of posts and assesses the candidates on required fields, as necessitated by the appointing authority. It uses various avenues of screening, including written tests, physical efficiency tests, practical tests and so on.

Are you eligible?

Each post offered by the Public Service Commission of any state has its own eligibility criteria. Knowing the regional language or native tongue is almost always a must for most posts or at least being fluent in the regional language could give you the edge over someone else with very similar credentials. For example, if you are applying for a job in the KPSC (Kerala Public Service Commission) then for certain posts, when the qualifications of two candidates are equal, the one with proficiency in the Malayalam language will be given preference. Here are a few examples to help you better understand the eligibility criteria and the diversity of posts:

For the post of an Assistant Professor in Business Administration, a candidate is required to have a masters degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% (or an equivalent), along with a good academic record. The candidate must also have passed a Comprehensive Test in the concerned subject (conducted by the UGC or any agency appropriately constituted by the state government).

For the post of a Legal Assistant, the applicant is required to possess a bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university. He/She will also need to have adequate experience as a Legal assistant or as an advocate.

The posts in the State’s PSC are coveted and it is understandable that the competition is very high.
